About John Croom.

My Story

Originally from Rock Hill, SC, I moved to Colorado Springs, CO, in 2017 to train at the Olympic Training Center. I started cycling in 2014 after seeing the USA Track Cycling National Championship in Rock Hill, SC. Coming from a football and wrestling background, I wasn’t necessarily the cycling build weighing in at 305lbs.

I began training and the weight began to come off. One thing led to another when in 2016 I attended my first European Track Cycling 6 day in Italy and then in 2017 I won my first US National Championship. My career would be filled with tons of ups and downs as I would go on to win two more National Championships, Pan American Games, and secure a US National Record in the Team Pursuit.

In 2019, we (US National Team) would realize the points gap was too far out of reach for us to secure a spot to the 2020 Olympic Games - this was a huge blow being it was an event we had been working toward for the last 2.5 years.

In 2021, I would begin to look at how I could possible qualify for the 2024 Olympic games by winning 5 national championships that year I was still a bit lost when I would then receive a phone call from American Magic - 37th Americas Cup Challenger at the end of the season about sailing with the program. After long thought and contemplation in the early 2022 season I would transfer my focus from professional cycling and dive head first into this Americas Cup sailing world! Follow along as I have moved to Barcelona to pursue my new adventures
